Difficult climbing hike
Length: about 8 km
Height: 630 m downhill
Start: 06:30 a.m.
The Torrent de Pareis climbing hike leads through one of the most spectacular canyons in Europe.
We take the minibus through the Tramuntana mountains to Finca Escorca. It starts with a one-hour, stony descent over a serpentine path through Dissgraswiesen to the stream bed of the Torrent de Pareis. Here we reach the viewpoint S´Entreforc and its impressive sight of Sa Fosca. Then it goes downhill in the rock paradise. We climb, slide, jump and crawl over rock barriers and narrow passages. It goes over, between and through boulders and climbing passages. When that's done, we enjoy our local picnic outdoors. Then we hike on river gravel through a wide basin to the famous estuary, the gateway to the Sa Calobra paradise. Of course there is time for a bath. Finally, we go through a tunnel to the wonderful promenade until we reach the hidden natural harbor Sa Calobra. When the sea is calm, our return trip goes directly from here by boat to Port de Sóller.
The torrent can only be used in good weather, low water levels and drought wander through. Good physical condition, surefootedness, a head for heights and sturdy shoes with a non-slip profile are essential requirements for this.
