Es Trenc - Caribbean meets Mallorca

Suitable for: Everyone

Location: Between Colònia de Sant Jordi and Sa Rapita

Playa Es Trenc is one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe and is undoubtedly the best sandbox on Mallorca. Es Trenc owes its reputation as having a Caribbean feel to the natural, undeveloped dunes, the turquoise-coloured water (no seaweed + no rocks = bright, turquoise-coloured water) and the numerous catamarans that seem to float above the gentle waves.

Es Trenc is just one of several stretches of beach between Colonia Sant Jordi and Sa Rapita, 7 kilometres long in total. It stretches for almost 3 kilometres from the village of Ses Covetes to Sa Rapita.

The Caribbean beach is well equipped with sunbeds and parasols, and there are also public toilets, plenty of water sports providers and a nudist beach section.

Tanned lifeguards watch over the bathers during the day and make many a teen's heart beat faster.

Es Trenc is well frequented in the high season, and not just by tourists. The centre section of the beach around Ses Covetes gets particularly crowded at weekends, when the locals traditionally head to the sea with full cool boxes, chairs and tables. This is also where most of the restaurants and chiringuitos (beach bars) are located, without which a summer's day at Es Trenc would not be perfect.

Curious photo motifs: Beach walkers pass numerous bunkers, which are not just concrete blocks, but witnesses to the past, art objects and popular photo motifs. The bunkers date back to the Second World War, when the Spanish dictator Franco feared that the Allies might attack the Balearic Islands. They were never used for this, but they were used as art objects when they were painted white in 201
