From the Far des Cap Salines lighthouse to the marble bay (Cala Marmol)

Distance: 5 km per direction | Duration: 1:15 h per direction | Level: easy hike

The Far des Cap de Ses Salines lighthouse sits enthroned at the southernmost tip of Mallorca, and sailors have been able to rely on its light since 1863.

The site is home to a research station for marine biologists and environmental scientists who study the development of the water temperature and the condition of the sea grass meadows. Migratory birds also like to rest here and enjoy the sea view across to the Cabrera archipelago.

The hike starts and ends here along the spectacular coast to Marble Bay, a real dream bay. Wow, sounds chic....

The best thing: no uphill or downhill. But sometimes a little arduous, especially at the end, when you can already see the turquoise waters of Cala Marmols and only the slope separates you from the deep blue water. But the short scramble and the odd small scratch from a root - good for holding on to on the way down - is worth it, because how often do you swim so chicly between high marble rocks? The fine sand between your toes, salt water on your skin and a picnic on a blanket... You've earned it before heading back the same way.

PS: Cooling off along the route is guaranteed. Several other small beaches line your hiking trail.

How to get there: Either by car in 30 minutes to the lighthouse or by bike in a approx. 1 hour.
