Caribbean atmosphere on Mallorca's most beautiful sandy beach

Es Trenc is the epitome of a dream beach: shallow turquoise water, kilometres of sand and undeveloped dunes. While in summer there is hardly a free spot to be found here, in the low season it is very quiet - just the right time for an extensive beach walk.

Es Trenc beach is located in the middle of a natural park, the Parc Natural Maritimoterrestre Es Trenc-Salobrar de Campos. This is why the infrastructure here is also restricted and the dunes may not be entered. Between Colonia Sant Jordo, Ses Covetes and Sa Rapita, there are only a handful of places to eat and drink, but all the more sea and romance.

The kilometre-long sandpit is interrupted only by artfully designed bunkers from Franco times and the small urbanisation of Ses Covetes, where a snack with a view of the Cabrera archipelago off the coast is worthwhile.

From Colonia de Sant Jordi, fine sand trickles through your toes, waves lap at your calves and your soul takes a holiday. On the way back, it becomes romantic when the setting sun draws a red line on the glittering sea, boats slosh in time with the waves and the seagulls fly a last evening round.

Tip: If you want to be more athletic, simply run the route before breakfast. But not close to the waves, where the sand is nice and firm. No! Sporty means fighting your way through the sandpit and really pushing your calves far up on the dunes.
