A cycle tour to the Majorcan fjord

How about a bicycle tour to the beautiful bay of Cala Pi, a kind of fjord on Mallorca? A wonderful sandy beach, extremely turquoise-coloured water and a cool selfie spot await you there.

Set off along Es Trenc beach in the direction of Sa Rapita - Next to you the Caribbean beach, in front of you a dune landscape with junipers, Aleppo pines and rosemary. After eight kilometres of picture-book beach, you reach Sa Rapita and continue along the coast to S'Estanyol - a quirky but truly original place reminiscent of the Wild West.

Follow the street along the sea and at the end oft he village you will reach off onto the MTB track towards Cala PI. No, it's not that bad, but from here the dirt track starts above the flat cliffs. Take your time and stopp for photos.

Once you have found your way through the village, the Torre de Cala Pi, the old pirate tower and guardian of the entrance to the wonderful beach, will guide you to the fjord.

Before heading back the same way, treat yourself to seafood and homemade sangria at Restaurante Miguel de Cala Pi.

Our tip for those who haven't had enough yet: Take a diversion via the Salinas de Llevant. Around 10,000 tonnes of sea salt are extracted here every year in Mallorca's last salt works. Between September and April, you can even spot flamingos in the shallow salt lakes.
