Picturesque Trails to Cala Tuent and the Turquoise Waters of Sa Calobra

First a short coach ride to the Mirador de Ses Barques viewing point. Our hike will take us along a mainly downhill route past gnarled old olive trees and through three farmsteads to Balitx d´Avall finca. A short break for oranges will be followed by a steep ascent (approx. 2 km/6,560 feet) to Biniamar coll. We will then continue along narrow old mule tracks above the bizarre bluffs to secluded Cala Tuent bay, that offers fantastic ocean and mountain views. Following a late lunch at a local restaurant we will continue onwards to Sa Calobra to walk to the mouth of the Torrent de Pareis canyon. The return journey will be via the interesting hairpin bends along the road to Sa Calobra.

General Information

  • MEETING POINT

The meeting point for all hikes is the Hotel Es Port parking lot in Port de Sóller.

  • SERVICES

Insurance, private touring coaches, railroad and boat travel, locally trained German-speaking mountain guide, finca rights of way and toll fees, plus a picknick featuring local delicacies and table wine or a warm meal during the hike. Drinks at bars and restaurants are not included in the package and must be paid for separately.

  • REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT & ORGANISATION

Almost all of Mallorca’s hiking trails are privately owned. They are often very rocky and gravelly and overgrown with grass that has sharp leaf blades.

It is thus important that you are healthy, have plenty of stamina and are surefooted and that you were suitable all-weather clothing. Sturdy hiking boots with a good sole, a backpack, drink bottle, sun hat, and waterproof clothing are required. Telescopic hiking poles are advantageous.

In some cases you will have to carry the food for the picknick that we will eat along the way in your own backpack. The only drink offered during picknicks is free Majorcan red table wine. You must bring your own drinks, fruit, and cookies to eat during the hike.

Our program focuses on enjoying and experiencing the landscape; having a fun hike; learning useful facts about local flora and fauna; gaining fascinating insights into the island and its inhabitants; and, last but not least, sampling the culinary highlights of Mallorca’s authentic rustic cuisine.
