For me the Yoga mat is a little island – everytime I step on my mat I can shut out the world for 90 minutes and just let it be. Just concentrating on myself and feeling my body changes my entire day.
I feel drawn to a strong Vinyasa Flow style bringing breath and movement together which takes the mind from the outside of the body to the inside. Meditation in movement – forgetting everything around you, allowing the layers to dissolve and just being yourself. It’s just you and your breath.
In my classes I encourage my students to draw from their own strength but also to not take themselves too seriously. The time on the mat should give them inner strength but also ease and calm to be able to deal with the challenges of everyday life.
Both aspects Yin and Yang are important to balance body and mind. Yin Yoga and also Yoga Nidra takes more and more space in my own practice and I would like to pass on my knowledge and experiences to my students.
