Discovering a different side of Mallorca’s west coast

Mallorca is far more diverse than many people expect. Around Port de Sóller, the Mediterranean Sea meets the dramatic landscapes of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains – a unique combination that instantly invites you to slow down and reconnect with yourself.

For me, this trip was not a typical beach holiday. It was a girls’ getaway with my best friend and a conscious break from everyday life. Instead of beach clubs and crowds, we were looking for nature, delicious food, little hikes and those precious moments when you can simply be present and switch off.

The region around Port de Sóller is truly beautiful: hidden coves, historic villages, countless hiking trails and, at the same time, a charming harbour town where life happens right by the water.

Port de Sóller: Why this region is worth discovering

Port de Sóller is located in a picturesque bay on the west coast of Mallorca. The town is small enough to feel relaxed and peaceful, yet offers enough variety to keep you entertained throughout your stay.

Its location is truly special: the Mediterranean lies on one side, while the impressive Tramuntana mountains rise directly behind it. Whether you enjoy hiking, cycling or simply strolling along the promenade, time seems to move a little slower here. It is a wonderful contrast to the busy party areas of Mallorca.

A hotel with a view: Bikini Island & Mountain Hotel Port de Sóller

During my stay, I chose Bikini Island & Mountain Hotel, an adults-only hotel known for its unique design, boho vibes and laid-back atmosphere. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this place is about much more than just accommodation - it is a feeling. Warm colours, lots of greenery and carefully chosen details create an atmosphere where you immediately feel at home.

What I loved most about the hotel was the perfect balance between effortless style and a relaxed atmosphere. The interior is not overwhelming but thoughtfully designed with lots of personality and attention to detail. From the scent of incense in the entrance area to the music playing at the bar, everything creates this feeling of arriving, slowing down and finding your own favourite spot – while still having plenty of privacy

Food at the hotel: Bali vibes for breakfast & dinner at NENI

Breakfast: the perfect start to the day

Breakfast at Bikini Island & Mountain Hotel feels like a little escape to Bali. The terrace is surrounded by plants, colourful textiles, wooden furniture and rattan details, creating a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. The buffet offers a wide variety of options, from fresh pastries and warm dishes to vegan choices. Gluten-free options are also available. The best part? You can take your time in the morning, as breakfast is served until 11 am.

Dinner at NENI Port de Sóller

In the evening, a visit to the hotel’s restaurant NENI is a must. The cuisine is inspired by Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavours, with a colourful selection of mezze dishes designed to be shared and enjoyed together. The terrace overlooking the bay is especially magical around sunset. My tip: try the Balagan menu and make sure to reserve your table in advance for dinner.

The rooms: Your private retreat overlooking the sea and mountains

The rooms are modern, bright and inspired by the Mediterranean, featuring natural materials such as wood. Many rooms offer breathtaking views of the bay, the sea or the surrounding mountains. Small details make the stay even more special, including a coffee machine, a beach bag with matching beach towel, carefully selected bathroom amenities and a music speaker.

One of my favourite moments every morning was enjoying a coffee on the private balcony of our room, looking out over the water and starting the day slowly - something I rarely get to experience in my everyday life back home in Hamburg.

Relaxing at the hotel: Pool, spa & yoga

Besides the pool with its incredible sea views, the hotel also offers a small spa area with sauna and regular yoga sessions on the rooftop terrace or in the yoga studio opposite the hotel. Whether you are relaxing by the pool, enjoying a massage or joining a yoga class overlooking the sea, this is a place where you can truly slow down, forget your to-do list and simply do nothing for a while. For me, these quiet moments were the highlight of the trip – the perfect time to get inspired, become creative or simply let my thoughts wander.

Things to do around Port de Sóller

If you are looking for adventure, there are plenty of options right outside the hotel: hiking through the Serra de Tramuntana, walking along the promenade or cycling through the mountains. A little tip: You can rent bicycles directly at the hotel reception. One of the best things about the area is that many hiking trails start directly from the hotel or can be reached within a short time. You can find a selection of recommended hikes on the Bikini Island & Mountain Hotel website. If you prefer not to organise a hike yourself, I can highly recommend joining a tour with the local team from Mallorca Muntanya – a wonderful way to discover the landscape.

Conclusion: Who will love Bikini Hotel Port de Sóller?

Bikini Island & Mountain Hotel is the perfect place for anyone looking for relaxation combined with unique design, a beautiful setting and excellent food.

The hotel is especially perfect for:

  • relaxing couple getaways
  • girls’ trips
  • peaceful solo escapes
  • mother-daughter trips

For me, it was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation - the combination of nature, amazing food and a beautiful hotel that made this trip truly unforgettable.
